If possible, purposefully move around the stage.

• Movement is an extension of your posture; keep movement purposeful and relaxed. If you feel comfortable you can also walk across the room to get the audience’s attention.
• Map your talk to the stage.
  • State your key message from a power position.
  • Designate areas of the stage for different parts of your talk.
  • Argue pros and cons from different physical positions.
• Use movement as a tool to highlight specific events in your presentation.
  • To emphasize a point, lean in, move forward or nod your head.
  • To indicate a transition, take a small step to the side.
• If you are speaking behind a podium, try to move away from it to address the audience. If this is not possible, you can effectively and dramatically move shortly away at key moments to engage with the audience or the screen.
