Color

Color is probably the most salient feature of visual communication and a very powerful tool in data visualization. This is perhaps why it is so heavily relied upon, when simpler or even more appropriate alternatives exist. It’s also why it’s so dismaying that it is so often used poorly or incorrectly. In the following sections, I’ll review the most important features of color use, of which we’ll see plenty examples throughout other chapters of the book.
